Anyone help me with Ibanez RG Prestige range?
At the gig I did with Unchained last night, I broke a string on my Wolfgang (same place as always...just where the string clamps onto the bridge section) and 2 on my Squier, leaving me with a Kramer that I only ever use on Jump as I can't get the hang of the neck. What it's made me realise is I NEED another guitar with a good trem so I went to my local and had a look. I was loathe to try Ibanez as I'd bought an RG 470 a coupla years ago and after one tap on the body, the paintwork started peeling away...I wasn't impressed. However, a range of 'Prestige' RG's was on display all around the £799 ($1000) mark but way beyond what I can afford. There was one tho' that was pure white with a pearloid sratchplate and S70 and S80 pickups instead of the Ibanez/Di Marzio ones on the other Prestige ones. This guitar was only £499 (I can haggle to £400) and was still made in Japan with a Wizard neck etc but I don't get why there's a price difference. If the pickups are like those 'Duncan Designed (which I think are awful), then I'd rather the very powerful Ibanez ones anyway. I loved the neck-fast as fook-and the sound was very powerful. Any of you guys know what the story is with this one being cheaper but still a prestige? The Ibanez website has nothing on it at all but it looks like a white version of the one I've attached. The good thing is, it'll stripe up nicely!
