Been using the same 3 picks for 4-5 years!
Would you believe this?
I have three guitars and each one has its pick wedged between the strings when not in use.
For some odd reason I seem to be incapable of losing them. I hear that some people will go through several every months.
The picks are identical and I drilled them all with about five holes so they have better gripgreat little mod to do yourself. When they wear down, I reshape and sharpen them using a nail file and they are good to go for a while longer. At this point though, one of them is getting too small so I think I will splurge and go the store!
I must be crazy...

That happens to me as well, I´ve been using the same thin orange pick for the acoustic and a thick purple one for the electric guitar for a few years. A friend of mine recently gave me a thumbpick, it´s awesome for playing both guitars! Prob is it´s a right thumb one, I´m a lefty, and it hurts after a few minutes of playing, but oh well, thats one good reason for using band-aids

it is funny you mention that my room mate in college used the same .60 orange tortex pick for 2 years i was amazed.
I literly will burn though a pick in an hour practice. I use yellow .73 tortex and when I change strings i have to wipe off this layer of yellow dust.

That's funny. I have loads of them and some will last forever but I also mailny use Tortex .73's and they wear down and get flimsy in no time so I toss them.

I've been using the V-Picks lately. They give me a whole new tone to my playing. Better harmonics, easier to grip, thicker tone, and added speed.

I've been using the same picks for about 18 months. I also wedge them between the strings when not in use so I rarely lose one.

I think my 2 picks are purple Dunlops (can't read the guage as it's been long rubbed off and drilled through anyway.
All I know is that they are quite thick and wear down pretty slowly. Their material is pretty dense. I originally chose them because their color matched the top of my flame purple EVH Wolfgang guitar.

at one time, the pick i used had been discontinued or something, for 3 years. heavy pointed tip tortex jazz (purple). i used my last one for 2 years and lost it. i then had no choice but to try a whole sh*tload of other picks, and ended up finding the dunlop jazz III. now i have finally seen the tortex i used for years, and i cant get used to them again hehe, but these jazzIII's last forever, so i guess it worked out. i have been using the same pick now for well over a year. wedged between the strings as i too always have done

sounds like the 1.5mm Jim Dunlops, my friends like to refer to them as "poker chips" because of their thickness, but it's the only kind I use on acoustic as well as electric.

You won't believe the harmonics from this pick. If you like thick picks, you'll like this one. Smoother, thicker tone. It feels like it glides across the strings. At first you can't feel the strings, sort of. When I first started using it, it felt funny. The more I used it the better I liked it. Now it's all I use.
