best beginner guitar instructional videos or books...

some of you have seen my guitars i've built and collected these last couple of years... sad thing is when it all started i really meant to learn how to play 'em... so now, two years later, i've finally decided to get a little more serious about learning to play...

so what do you guys recommend for a method for a beginner to start... luckily, i am a bit ahead of the game in that i understand a couple of basic scales, know a couple of chords, not to mention that tuning and setting up a guitar is absolutely no problem either, but now it's time to get serious...

right now i have just begun a book and tape called "rock guitar primer for beginning guitarist" by some guy named bert casey, so at least i do have a solid start...

all input is appreciated...

Since you already know some basics like scales and chords, I would recommend spending some time listening to music and putting your knowledge to work on figuring out what you are playing along with.

For example, pop in some AC/DC. Angus' solos are pretty simple, and they give you a good foundation for working out your solo shapes.

Practice makes perfect, and the more you play the more you are able to manipulate the notes on your fingerboard
