Best LIVE gutiar solo.

Im not sure if someone has started a thread about this topic yet, so if there is one sorry.

I think Randy Rhoads "Suicide Solution" is one of the best.

'Touching Tongues' is pretty amazing but for an old solo I'd say 'Adventures In A Yorkshire Landscape' by Be Bop Deluxe off of 'Live! In The Air Age'

Good call FF. Unfortunately though, the version from the "Tribute" album wasn't Randy's best live solo, but it's the one most people will ever hear. There are a few bootleg recordings out there where the solo is immensely better and much more representative of Randy's live tone and energy.

I was lucky enough to see Rhoads twice with Ozzy before he passed- the first Blizzard of Ozz tour in '81 and the '82 NYE show at L.A. Sports Arena. Aside from seeing Ed live, I don't think I've ever been so awed with seeing a rock guitarist's solo as I was with Rhoads' masterpiece. With Randy it was especially moving, since you could tell watching him light up the fretboard that he was hungry to prove he wasn't an Ed clone and had his own unique style.

On that note, I was also sort of impressed by Brad Gillis's own "tribute to Randy" live solo when he first took over after Rhoads' passing. The King Bisquit live show from San Antonio recorded just weeks after Randy died was actually a damn good concert, and tons better than anything on the "Speak of the Devil" album.

Re: Best LIVE gutiar solo.

I wanna go with Ed's 5150 solo from LWAN, but after hearing so many boots from that tour i've heard him do better on that particular song. My favorite live solo is Ed's solo from the live video of So This Is Love. His solo and outro solo are just so bluesy and lightning fast. I can never watch that video without pressing rewind and having too hear it again.

Other then that i'll saw Jimi Hendrix's solo on Red House at Woodstock.

Yea Jedi the man never ceases too amaze me. My favorite show from that tour is the Montreal show. I know EJ has that boot as well and he'll tell ya how on Ed was that entire show. Even his solo spot was better then the one on LWAN. I thought they should have included Good Enough/Addicted Too Love on LWAN as well. That would have made it even more complete for sure.

Hey FF!! Yeah seeing Randy playing live was completely awesome.

The best part of the first Blizzard show (besides Randy's incredible solo) was hearing "Believer" before it was even released. I remembered that riff all night and when I came home I managed to play it on my tricked out Hondo II Explorer.
