Boss DS-1 “Seeing Eye”, Keeley modified

I just bought a Boss DS-1 distortion pedal on eBay. This one has the much-publicized Robert Keeley modification. (Vai uses it).
I was a sucker and I had to try that.
Anyone here knows of this pedal or uses it? Tell me about it.
When I get it I'll post a sound clip...

I had a Boss Turbo Distortion pedal back in the late 80s. I've never heard of this modification......

Re: Boss DS-1 ....

Apparently Robert Keeley guts pedals and replaces their innner components with higher-grade parts that give the pedals more interesting tonal possibilities.
Folks who own these pedals keep raving about them.
I will know very soon. The pedal should be here thursday or friday.

Re: Boss DS-1 ....

OK the pedal got here this am.
It's perfect. I'll take it to my lesson at lunch time, and to tonight's jam.
I'll post a review here afterwards.

Re: Boss DS-1 ....

Review:
This is a very powerful and versatile pedal. I used it to make a Fender
Twin completely scream during a blues solo.
It warms up and distorts a Marshall Plexi considerably.
I'm going to try and use it to get close to Ed's early tone if it's possible. I know how elusive that quest is, but I'm trying...

I'll record something over the weekend and post it to give you an idea...
