Changing pickups on RG1570 (Dimarzio?)

I'm new to playing electric guitar, and have recently decided to purchase a Ibanez RG1570 guitar. From the information I've been reading, you can swap out the stock pickups with Dimarzio pickups to get some "JEM like" tone. This is exactly what I want to do, or more specifically, this is what I will have the guitar tech at the store do before I take my new guitar home.

My question is this: What specific Dimarzio pickups do you recommend I have the tech install in the neck and bridge to give me "JEM like" tone? Should I leave the mid pickup stock and change the neck and bridge only? Just looking for some recommendations please. BTW, I'm a total newbie with this sort of thing, as this is will be my first electric guitar.

Thank you in advance

Hey Rudee. I have a rg2570 and was happy with the stock pu's, but wanted a little more bite. Most Jems come with an dimarzio evo in the bridge. That is what i have in mine. I left the mid pu stock and i change the neck pu with a dimarzio breed. I love this combination, but it might not be what u want. There are some samples on dimarzios site that u can listen to as well. Tech support at dimarzio helped me out in deciding what pu's i wanted to put in my rg.

I also have the RG1570 which I just bought at GC for $375 (see pis in gear section). Normally I would throw the EVO in the bridge and leave it at that, but since I have an EVO in another guitar I was thinking of trying the PAF. The EVO has a super tone and very hot sounding...but not as high output as a Wolfgang PUP.

What is the most metal sounding highest output Dimarzio PUP? Is it the EVO or something else?

I have a Jackson that i put Dimarzios in last summer. I used a super distortion in the bridge and a PAF Pro in the neck. The Super Distortion is good in the bridge position but I'm not much into neck pups as to me they just sound like mud. I'm seriously considering removing the Paf Pro from the neck and switching things around to see how it sounds in the bridge. Maybe just going with the single humbucker Frankenstrat type setup. So many things, so lil time!

I believe the Super Distortion has the highest output.

I've heard the following combos are also good:

neck: Tonezone
Bridge: PAF Pro

I'm also curious as to what pickup position you folks play the most.

that narrows it down

Just kidding man. But which do you use most? Neck or bridge?

For me its almost always the bridge unless i want to do some smooth sounding stuff.

I mostly use the bridge postion. Use the neck for cleans and for some shredding.
