Clapton Strat v's Strat Deluxe

Quickly - have been offered a 2nd hand (but pretty new) Clapton Blackie strat for the same price as I was going to pay for a Strat Deluxe brand new.....
Does anyone have any thoughts - what would you buy and why?
I appreciate the necks are different and it may come down to personal preference and playability, but what about the sounds, pickups?
I'd really appreciate your opinions.

im very faimiliar with the pickup set on teh blackie as i have the same set on my strat. and that set sounds GREAT never played a strat deluxe though. The pickups on the blackie (fender vintage niosless) give a great blues tone.

i hope that helped.

I have a delux, great guitar and the SCN pup's are a dream. Not very hot but they are very underrated and of course silent! The build is A1 but the floating tremolo takes a little getting used to as its so light. The S1 switching will also give you a great variety of tone.

I had the same choice and I went for the versatility of the Delux.

Spare-Flair is an unknown quantity at this point
I can't believe the people who buy different strats and don't look at the main differences. A blackie is 1957 strat so it's going to be like a 1957 reissue.

That means that you have a V-neck and that the fretboard radius is very round. That means then that the guitar is very easy to chord and a real pleasure to bar. The downside is because the frets curve so much that it won't bend very much without fretting out so don't expect any super bends on the high notes of the neck!

If It Is The Newer Clapton With The Noisless Pickups I Would Take It .i Have One There Great Has The Tbxand 25db That Can Give You A Les Paul Type Tone If Desired,a Sweet Ax And Versatile .spare Maybe The Body Of Blackie Was A 57 ,becuae She Was Put Together With The Parts Of 3 Strats.i Mean Its Clapton We Are Talking About And The One Thing His Ax Is Going To Do Is Be Able To Make Those Huge Bends.
