Question

Considering installing a Floyd Rose...

Recently ive been considering getting a floyd rose locking nut system installed on my guitar, but there are a few problems with this. One, there is no luthiers that I know of in my area. Two, my guitar has a LP style body and bridge instead of a Strat. Three, I dont have the confidence to install one myself. So, do guys know of ANY luthiers or guitar shops in the Tri-State area (Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland. Preferably Delaware cause' thats where i live) that deal with installing Floyd Rose Locking nut systems.

D.i.n.o is an unknown quantity at this point
Just my opinion, but I'd consider buying a Floyd equiped guitar before taking a router to your Les Paul (or LP copy) for several reasons.
1) If it's an L.P. copy, it may cost more than the guitar is worth.
2) If it's a Gibson Les Paul, you seriously risk decreasing the value of the instrument.
3) Routing away THAT much wood will have a serious effect on the overall tone and sustain of the guitar. If you like the way the guitar sounds now, don't screw with it.
4) This is a permenant alteration and cannot be reversed.

Again ... just my opinion.

Go with a Kahler which is very little body routing and actually designed for your type of guitar. Lots of guys including Mick Mars and Richie Sambora have used Kahlers at some point in their careers looking for exactly what you are.

Go to www.kahlerusa.com and check out the 2200 series which is designed for arched tops like the LP.

Geez! I saw some of the prices on those Kahlers and they cost almost as much as my guitar. I guess it'd be better to settle for a digitech whammy pedal. Do those mimic the effects of the whammy bar pretty good? Anybody feedback from people around here that have used one would be appreciated. BTW, thanx for all the responses advice so far.

waste of time m8, had whammy on one of my digitechs, you cant beat a good real trem, for subtle trem work you gotta have the real thing!
you'd be better off getting a new guitar, then of course its deciding wot guitar lol

if you want a whammy on your LP, check these out:

http://www.stetsbar.com/index.htm

No modification needed. Just take off your stop bar and put this in its place. It uses the current holes on your LP.

There's also a version for Tele's as well.

The same price as the Kahler's, but no body modification needed.

Thanks for the link man, it really helped me out. I vaguely remember seeing these things in a GP magazine now that I think of it. But still the price tag on these things are killing me. I have the money for it (birthday money ) but it really hurts me to shell out that much cash for such a small component. They really get ya by the balls with this stuff lol.

yea forgot about those parts, think it was the cost also that put me off
as we've all said, your money is probably better off spent on a new axe that has that whammy, I have a Les Paul and have wanted a trem for years, I kno if i had the money then i would get another axe, have been looking at the cheaper ones to begin with, checkout the vintage range esp the Vintage®Rock Series/VRS100 and the rock series
http://www.jhs.co.uk/vintageelectric.html

the gold one with beige plate = $340 approx £196
vintage guitar £239
hmm know which one i'd have

alternative

i know its not quite the floyd rose, and it doesnt lock, but you could always throw a bigspy tremolo on your LP, it was one of the original tremolo systems and is completely external, you wouldnt need to do any routing.
