Dillema
So I bought me a sweet Fender strat a couple of weeks ago only to get the wrong color. Instead of White, it was Sky Blue. So I get a return, and get one from a different person. The guitar is supposed to be white, but it's aged to a sweet cream. My original intention was to mod it with a Floyd and humbucker, but this new one I just received looks soooo sweet as it is, much better than I expected. If I had to toss it up to playability, I think I would go for the mod, but it's just too pretty to hack. Decisions decisions Thanks for the vent.

Re: Dillema
Tough call man, I personally don't care what my stuff looks like as long as it plays the way I like LOL. But I see where you are coming from because I know a lot of people the same way. It may also look killer with the Floyd in it too

Re: Dillema
I like the look of butchered and modded guitars lol. I think it makes them look more badassed and functional.

Re: Dillema
Buy something cheaper and mod it...Like a Mexi-strat. They can be had for $150 if you look hard enough. Everyone should have an original Strat in their arsenel. They're like an old friend.

Re: Dillema
it's just some wood with a litle bit of metal on it!!!
i say go for it...
really though, you could always at least put together another loaded pickguard to swap in there, keeping the stock one original, but i don't see the floyd unit as anything but a improvement, unless the old strat is really just some special vintage deal...
just my opinions, though...

Re: Dillema
Not vintage or anything at all like that. It reminds me a lot of one of my first guitars mostly. In fact she's a Mexican, so the value is limited, but this just looks so sweet... Fuck it, I pulling out the circular saw next week while my mother-in-law is here and doing it!

Re: Dillema
Finally finished last week... The tile in the back ground is what has been occupying my time until complete before I was "allowed" to work on anything guitar related. I actually like the floor

Re: Dillema
Not floating. I had a Charvel that the Floyd was floating, but I wanted to try something different tone wise since I haven't been doing much pullback lately. I just posted how I installed it with complete with pics in a different thread
