Dimarzio Evolution pick up

I checked out some pick ups last week. I was looking to check out a SD JB model pick up but I ended up putting in a Dimarzio Evolution (Steve Vai specs) in my main axe.
This pick up shreds!
Very loud and crunchy.....it's louder and ballsier that the SH-12 George Lynch model I have in there now.
I moved the SH-12 to the neck position and getting some sweet singing tones outta that spot.
Can't wait to get it on stage.

I'll check out a JB when I get a chance.

Anybody else use the Evolution?

No but the Jeff Beck is awesome. I had one on a Les Paul and I have a Dimarzio Tone Zone on my Frankenstrat. I think the JB has the edge tho.

Hey Wah,
I'll check out the JB, but I'm REALLY diggin' this Evolution.
The harmonics really jump out there!

I've never really been into buying pick-ups until I got this Les Paul that sounded a bit feeble. I reckon it's your set-up as well and you look like you got a growlin' amp mate! Boogie ain't it?

Re: Dimarzio Evolution pick up

Yes Wah, I run a Mesa and a Marshall together.
I have crank 'em up pretty loud on stage but the Mesa alone has tone for days..........

I use a Fender Super Champ as a practice amp and the new pick up does really well through that. This amp SCREAMS!

I always replace the stock pick ups in my guitars or get one that has nice pick ups. The Iron Maiden Strat that I bought came with Seymours so that why I got it (my gear) .....I just need to replace the neck cause there's a little to much curvature on the fretboard and it kinda sucks......ya know?

I'm lookin' at getting a USA Custom guitars neck for my Strat. These guys worked for Warmoth.

I have a Fender Stage 112 SE which absolutely smokes! I can get harmonics on pretty much any note...no good for live as it's not powerful enough BUT in the house or backstage its awesome!

Re: Dimarzio Evolution pick up

Hehe...My strat looked exactly like the Maiden one before I striped it! I had a mirror scratchplate and I've had a hotrails in for a coupla years. It's beaten up now and it needs a refret or a new neck some time soon, but I'd be lost without it-plays much better (to me) than my Kramer or Peavey Wolfgang...and it cost me about $70 15 years ago!
