Eddie\'s guitar used on \"You Really Got Me\"
Hi all. Someone sent us this info about Eddie, and I was wondering if it's true:
Contrary to popular belief, Ed used an Ibanez Destroyer for most of this (their first) album, as well as several songs on the next 2 albums. This guitar is featured on the cover of the Woman and Children first (it looks like a Gibson Explorer). Ed later took a large chunk out of the guitar, which ruined the tone.
Thanks much,

Re: Eddie\'s guitar used on
yeah he did...
well at least on you really got me . on the clip for you really got me he's using it ... another sign is just before the break down he toggles the pick up switch back and forth to get that disjointed rhythm you can only do that on a destroyer or a les paul or something with similar gibson switching .

No, it doesn't, but he doesn't use it in YRGM.

Re: Eddie\'s guitar used on
Yep, YRGM is the Ibanez Destroyer. Note there are no trem dive bombs in YRGM.

Re: Eddie\'s guitar used on
Runnin' With the Devil doesn't, and yes, he did use it on the first few albums. I think he stopped using it around Diver Down.

He sometimes overdubbed solos with whammy...but YRGM isn't one of them. It's all Ibanez Destroyer, along with RWTD, On Fire, The Rhythm track to Jamie's Cryin', and some others I'm sure. I think DTNA is also...
Basically, some of Ed's coolest sounds from the first few records were from a Destroyer, which at the time was a Korina bodied copy of the Original Gibson Explorer.
