Eddies tone

OK guys...I'm new here, so go easy on me.

How 'bout some suggestions for getting Eddie's early sound without having a Bradshaw rack and a Tony Little Gazelle excercise program etc.

A few simple pedals along with the obvious humbucking pickup etc.

Anybody have any clinics or videos that focus on getting Eddie's tone and mastering his style?
I've seen Curt Mitchell's Van Halen style videos, but that's about it. A guy named Bart Walsh (the original guitarist of the Atomic Punks, and later toured with Roth) did a clinic in LA some years back focusing on Eddie's style, but apparently the video that was recorded has gone by the wayside.

Maybe I'm just asking a question that's been done to death here, but have patience.

Thanks,
Chris

Re: Eddies tone

I'd suggest a high gain amp...I use the early 5150 and it rocks-plus you'll need a flanger and phaser. MXR old skool but if you want less noisy, try the Line6 Modulation Modeller as it rocks. You can hear it live if you go to The Lounge and look at the UNCHAINED video footage. Eruption sounds pretty close to Ed's sound...let me know what you think...I'm not neccesarily talking 'bout the 'brown' sound here but more the VHI and VH2 days!

Be Eddie

What alot of guitarists forget is that 90% of Eddies tone is in his hands. So get his touch down and u can be playing through a fender prinston and sound alot like him! But gear wise an old school Marshal Late 70's and a Tube screamer is a good start not the gear he used but it sounds alot like his first record tone. Try that with a rev pedal and you will be surprised what you can come up with. Rev Pedals are better than racks because pedals do not effect the tone or gain of your pickup ..........when you shut a pedal off it is very difficult to notice any difference in comparsion to taking the pedal out of the circuit but if you use a rack and hit bypass you will notice a big tone difference even on bypass.
