Favorite blues artists

Who's your favorite blues players?

Not blues-influenced (i.e.- Jimmy Page, etc.), but guys that made their actual living playing blues.

Mine are Albert Collins, Albert King, Robert Cray, SRV and Buddy Guy.

Re: Favorite blues artists

For me it begins and ends with two people: Robert Johnson (old school) and SRV. There is nobody cooler in the world than SRV playing "Scuttlebuttin'" with his eyes closed.

Re: Favorite blues artists

My favourite blues guitarist would probably be Gary Moore (if he counts.....). I like the way he mixes some shred into the blues.

Re: Favorite blues artists

SRV and obviously Albert King, but there is a guy in Phoenix named Chuck Hall who is fantastic. Plays a Tele through a Super Reverb, it's beautiful.

Re: Favorite blues artists

Stevie Ray Vaughan...try and watch 'Live at El Mocambo' for the most smokin' set of all time! Also check out Kelly Joe Phelps who does things with an acoustic guitar that shouldn't be allowed; it's as much the blues guys voice as their guitar playing for me and this guy has an amzing blues voice...start with anything off 'Sky Like a Broken Clock' but make sure you hear 'Katy'. Haunting lyrics and excellent blues guitar with some tapping at the beginning! I kid you not.
