Got a keyboard

I went out and got a Yamaha EZ30 keyboard today, should be fun learning it, it has some great voices built into it and it's own drums! No more downloading tracks that I can barely work with

Re: Got a keyboard

Yeah, luckily, I got my great Yamaha keyboard for free. Within a day I had the main riff to jump down. I just finished the solo a few days ago too. Now I'm working on When It's Love.

Re: Got a keyboard

Heres a lesson for you guys..the first black key (in the set of 2 black keys) is the same but an octive higher on the same key but a set down..same as the first key (in the set of 3 black keys) is the same down..and so on down..same with white keys.. the white key before the first black key of the set of 2 black keys is a C and would be C1...go down where it is again but an octive higher than that is C2..and so on..same with differnt notes..the next key would be A (I think) so it would be A1..and down again there will be another A and it would be A2...thats one way of some sites on how to read tab on piano..A1 C2 D5 and so on..if you hit C1 with your left pinky and skip over 3 white keys and hit that note with your pointer finger that is a full C i think..hope some of this helps you guys

Re: Got a keyboard

Thanks, I pretty much know the basic chords but I have to just play around with it and see what I can come up with, unlike the guitar I have to concentrate on each note and my fingers feel clumbsy on it. The cool thing is that I can use the drums and bass from it which is way cooler than downloading loops.

Re: Got a keyboard

the easiest way to learn piano i find instead of using the c2 a3 stuff or whatever

just read guitar tab ... theres the 6 open strings EADGBE then just add a semi tone for each fret on the guitar for example :

--0--1--2--3--4---

on the top E string those notes would be E,F,F#,G,G# etc

i can read tab directly onto piano now with a bit of practice it's great ...

learning to read standard notation though is far far better though i've found ! ....

Re: Got a keyboard

i can't actually remember how i learnt piano i think it was just forced on me lol

i learnt all the chords and scales and stuff though and it was great .. knowing chord theory and notes on the piano helps your guitar playing so much

Re: Got a keyboard

The black keys are small and hard to hit so I just skip those, there's plenty of white ones
