Have a listen to tracks like 'Superfly Sumo' by Doug Aldrich or the latest Burning Rain stuff...he smokes! A bit George Lynch but a nicer tone as he uses strats a lot and you can hear that single coil growl that not many guitarists of his style go for.
Doug is a guitar god! Not too many people know about him, but I fell in love with his incredibly melodic phrasing when I first heard his work on Dio's Killing TheDragon.
I haven't heard any of his solo work, but hold this guy in high esteem.
My teacher is friends with him, and I hope I will get to shake his hand some day.
There's a track called Metal Superman (hmm!) on the last Burning Rain album and he just smokes! Embarrasing song title but amazing guitar work. Anyone wants to hear it just reply and I'll post it up.
Doug's stuff is near impossible to find. Check half.com or Amazon. Good luck!
Doug is currently touring with Whitesnake. He recently left Dio because he didn't have the time to help write Dio's next album, being on tour and all.
Craig Goldie stepped back up to the plate with Dio.
Craig Goldie is another really good axeman.
I must have been living in a timewarp! Just realised that Doug did the guitarwork on the VH tribute on 'I'm The One'...I'm listening to it as I write this and it's absolutely awesome! Check it out. If I can post it I will but I'll wait for permission first in case of copyright and all that.
I agree, Doug is great. I'd love to get my hands on a Cameron-modded Marshall like his. Killing the Dragon has some great work on it. I think his tone on the VH tribute was a bit shrill though.
thought he killed the rest of the guys myself but it's a personal thing with music and guitarists ain't it. Check out his stuff with Burning Rain and his solo albums...great tone and excellent feel.
