Hendrix Haters

Why do so many people, even on this site, hate on Hendrix? I've heard "Hendrix is only good because of the heroin" too many times. Most people who try heroin either end up in the hospitol, or dead, so it's slightly miraculous that he can even play while on it.

I haven't seen it much, actually. I have seen dummies write about Hendrix too much, though.

Basically, no one needs to defend him, because his playing can do the talking.

Well, composition wise, the stuff on Electric Ladyland pops into my mind. 1983... Talk about chills up your spine.

I always remind folks who maybe won't put Hendrix in the player,is he never got to work himself out of "the Sixties"

Time has stopped and we'll never hear the next step in his development.

He was obviously getting tire of that sound and all by 1970.

The next step would have been great to hear....maybe something like Led Zeppelin

Yeah it probably would have been Zeppelin-like. Wonder what Zeppelin would have made of that.

Or maybe he would have preempted Eddie Van H?

Anyway, I'm not sure why people don't like him. Maybe because he comes across on stage to some people as spaced out or something.

Either way, you can't beat Hendrix really.

Keith

Hendrix would never directly take that much influence from a contemporary, so I doubt the Led Zeppelin think. I think he would have gone more into blues (Band of Gypsies, duh!), but in a more sonic way.

I doubt Jimi would have been able to do much about Eddie taking the spotlight, though.
