How do they make techno songs anyone know

I want to prove to myself i can make a techno or trance song..what do they use to make these songs..other than ejay.and fruit loops does anyone know any other ways or programs..and how do they make the deep bass thats on rap songs..it can't be a bass guitar right?..any info would be cool..thanks

You can check out Reason it's sequencing software and from what I can tell it's pretty powerful stuff. I played with it a little bit and it's not easy to use but it has some kick ass sounds including deep bass and all of that.

Reason along with whatever recording program you use would be the quickest and cheapest way to go. Are you tracking vocals too? Just like any music you gotta listen to a good amount of it b4 you nail it. Find out exactly where the kick sits in relation to the synth bass as far as frequencies go. MoPhatt sound module is pretty good for lotta hip hop stuff. To really do techno type stuff well you do need a good synth or synth module such as a Waldorf, Supernova, Nord, or Virus etc.. Good luck, I wanna hear this stuff when done.
