Basically because the top of the fretboard has a radius (it's not flat) you have to bend the frets to match that radius or the ends will never stay down....which is why you need a fret bender of some sort.

Dressing frets is something I don't really know enough about to give advice...mine are still not dressed properly but I will do them as soon as I get a dressing file.

I have been wanting to do this on my korean schecter C-1 classic. its a great guitar except the frets are square cause they start with HUGE frets and file them down ALOT. they are almost square and this makes it rattle also doesn't help the intonation or bending. but its a neck-thru with good pickups and its my only guitar. I was thinking about getting it PLEK'ed. $500 fret job on a $750 guitar. I would do it if it made it play like a custom shop axe. but my frets would be medium-small at best when its all done and I might just wanna scallop it if it gets to be like that. I could re-crown it but I don't want to fuk it up and I don't wanna pay cause I might just as well get it PLEK'd right?

Hey Mr. B. Shit,

What exactly is Plek'd? I have never run across it.
