I don't see a problem. The lowest you would most likey go to route for the nut might be close to the top of the nut, and I have had to do that before where sometimes ther ewould be even a very tiny hole above the truss rod becuase I had to route that close to it, but you still aren't routing on the truss rod. Make sure you have a locking nut that screwed to the neck from the top.
As I mentioned, call Might Mite and confrim with them if you can put a locking nut on. They will tell you immediatly if there are any additional problems.

Thanx for the quick answer! The nut is a top mount no problem, I'll contact Mighty Mite asap but in your opinion should I route a lot more in depth than it already is?

It depends on the nut, but I would say most likely just a hair more than what is currently there, but not much.

Ok, the nut comes from those Mighty Mite Floyd Rose copy deal.
This is the side facing the fretboard (0.236inch from the bottom to the string slot) :

Well, after contacting MM and taking some more measures, the truss rod might be in the way, I could still route a platform but the nut might be too high...any advice or any way I could still do it?

Use a Kahler nut which has the middle string lock cleared to compensate for a truss rod:

For intonation, you need a tool:
http://www.axcessories.com/products.asp?id=97
There is a sticky at the top of the forum on guitar setup.
As for changing strings, you unlock the strings at the bridge by using an allen wrench to loosen the screw locks that extend out of the bridge assembly. They are the 6 long black finger-like things under each fine tuner. Do one string at a time. Read the setup page and see if that answers your wuestions. If not, post away

Non-licenced Floyd Rose's..
Hi guy's!
A couple of years ago (I think) I decided to mod my OLP mm1 with a floyd. I read all i could find about "the world of floyds", including this great thread right here, wich helped me alot. When starting a project like this, most people will tell you to get a original Floyd Rose with the reason that non-originals are crap. I've got a good head and good working hands , and i never could figure out why they were all crap no matter how much i read/studied. (The floyd-copy's with inlet-pivotpoints i can see trouble with, but the other's? It's steel for christ sake's! )
So I found the cheapest FloydRose-copy i could find in my country. A "Paxphil FR" costing somewhere around 100 $. (lol) My prioritys when bying it was how it looked and price. I did the job, routed too, set it up, and it has worked great ever since. I think many of the people having trouble with non-original Floyd's, would have trouble with the real one's too.
A advice would be to fully understand how a FloydRose works before starting a project like this. Actually i think u need to fully understand how it works before even bying a guitar with a Floyd Rose. If you don't - you will get bummed..
So my message to you fellow modder's, don't believe the hype, and read/learn first, then do!

Questions on installing my floyd rose
Hey jalapeno,
I recently got an Ibanez RG120 and I really want to put a floyd rose tremolo in it but I have a few questions.
1.) There is no extra strip of wood behind the original nut like how stratocasters have, so will it be even possible to install a locking nut on my guitar? (see this pic:
2.) The original non-locking tremolo that the guitar comes with has pivot screws rather than the 6 screws that other standard tremolos have, so does this mean that I won't have to do any routing for the pivot screws? (see this pic:
3.) The neck is at a slight angle, so will i have to install string retainers as well? (see this pic:
Hopefully you can answer these questions for me cause im really anxious to install my floyd as soon as possible! thanks!
