First of all, could you tell me if these pickups would be good for an Iron Maiden sound? And secondly, my 70's Strat has 3 pickup slots, so which of the above pickups should go in the neck, middle and bridge slots?
Sorry for all the questions but I'm just not sure about this. Thanks for any help.
well if you are only planning on getting 2 pups, you would just put them in the bridge and neck postion and leave the middle.
the JB is recommended only for bridge position...and the hot rails for neck and bridge. you have to specify which one you want when you order.
any duncan pickups that are that high output should be good for metal.

All right OK thanks a lot. So I should go for a Hot rail in the neck, and a JB in the bridge, and just leave the middle? That sounds good to me and they should be good for Iron Maiden if they're good for metal. Thanks.
whatever you do, don't order anything from ed roman, he's not worthy of anyones business... can find the same pickups anywhere else, probly for a better price...
Most of the stuff I've found says that they all use Duncans.
From the Seymour Duncan site:
Janick Gers /Iron Maiden Pickup Models : SHR-1n&b, SJBJ-1B
Steve Harris / Iron Maiden Pickup Models : Custom Shop SPB-1
Dave Murray / Iron Maiden Pickup Models : SHR-1n, SHR-1b
Hmm so Dave Murray uses hot rails in the neck and the bridge. I think I'll go for that then, unless anyone believes the JB would be better? To be honest I would prefer the Dave Murray sound to that of Janick's so I think the two hot rails would be best.
And yeah, I won't order from Ed Roman thanks for the advice!
at a guess i'd say they would have to be pretty powerful ones . you know you can actually get single coil size EMG pickups these days they might sound really nice on your strat if you want that metal kinda maiden sound . let us see some pics either way though mate lol .
