Instrumental Guitarists
I'd like to discuss Instrumental Rock/Jazz/Fusion Guitarists...There have been great recordings through the years...A cool band to check out is "Tribal Tech" Scott Henderson is great...Frank Gambale has some great music, also...He did some great work with Chick Corea...Satriani & Vai of course...When I'm in a real jazzy mood I'll put on some Lee Ritenour, I love his phrasing ! He plays octave lines great !! Very Smooth.....Has anyone heard Dream Theater covering "Rush's music"...I like how John Petrucci embellishes Alex Lifeson's guitar parts...worth checkin' out !! I also like listening to Steve Lukather and Larry Carlton..excellent stuff... Eddie Van Halen does great work on Lukather's Christmas Album "Santamental"...
Cheers & Happy New Year !!

Re: Instrumental Guitarists
When I used to work for a music store way back when, my manager turned me on to Frank Gambale and let me tell ya, that guy is smoking. If any of you haven't had a chance to hear the guy I highly recommend him.

Re: Instrumental Guitarists
Petrucci...for me his most 'out there' solo is the one on 'Misunderstood'. Very Adrian Belew but all of his own influence I think...the guy is a master. Nice site by the way...I thought 'Mystic Eyes' was very Satch.

Re: Instrumental Guitarists
Check out Burning Rain material...there's a couple of cracking songs; silly title 'Metal Superman'. Also his version of Hendrix' 'If six were 9' is pretty awesome. I can send you the mp3's if you give me your e-mail address or just check out on kazaa etc. He's more George Lynch than George Lynch!!!

Re: Instrumental Guitarists
Andy Timmons is one of my favorites. Everything off of Ear X-Tacy is amazing. So many different styles of playing on one CD. It's well worth checking out.
