Jackson DXMG vs. Mexican Fender Fat Strat Floyd Rose
Hi all.
I own a Jackson DXMG made in Japan. H-H EMG HZ, Floyd Rose, 24 frets.
Now there is a Mexican Fender S-S-H, Floyd Rose, which he would like to trade with me, and I top up cash of S$150 for him .He mentioned that he does not know the actual model, but the series number is MZ3129590. I could not search for info using this number.
So I would like to seek your opinion as I do not know much about guitars.
Two different beasts. The fretboard radius on each will be very different, as will the frets. This will affect action. I have a Lone Star Strat that would be similar in design to the Fat Strat you mentioned. It has a Duncan Pearly Gates humbucker in it and it can get very down and diirty. For the above mentioned reasons, it will not play as fast as my Kramer Pacer Imperial. Bottom line is you need to decide what you really want in a guitar and settle on that. I love Strats more than any other guitar. To me nothing feels better than a slight V neck with medium jumbo frets. I like my action slightly higher than average to let the tones ring out. Oh yeah, I'll play the others once in a while too for variety and to keep them from feeling lonely, but the guitars that are always out on the stands ready to be played are my two Strats.
The Lone Start Strat is one of the best guitars you'll ever play. The Jackson DXMG is mostly limited to heavy metal etc, unless you change the pickups.
The Strat can do metal out-of-the-box, and much more. Its HSS combo lets you do any kind of music if you run it through the right amp. The Jackson has a wider fretboard, so unless you want to have your thumb behind the fretboard and do fast runs, it might be worth getting the Lone Star to get those perfect bluesy bends.
