I keep reading in some places that actually it was a pretty simple and average neck and he didnt even finish them and left them just treated a tiny bit with oil or something.
Anyone have any idea where to start?
Although keeping in mind that my guitar while may be a bolt on is not a maple neck at the moment.

You can find used strat necks on ebay for pretty reasonable prices.
Ed's neck was a 21
fret neck unlike most which are 22. You can check that out in any pic that is out there by zooming in and counting.
With the years of guitars and necks its all kinda laughable when it comes to fenders.
I have a friend who is a certified fender repair guy for both their amps and their guitars and he told me that in many cases and because of their disorganization that an early 60's neck could have been left at the back of the pile and it could have ended up being bolted on a late 60's guitar for example.
So from what he told me you never really know what you are getting.
Any markings that determine the year of the part are put on when the guitar it is being built whether it be with old or new stock, so no one will ever know for sure about any strat.
So if a neck feels good then it is.
In the early 70's strats went down hill because the company was bought by its employee's and the quality of strats did not come back up until the late 80's and not fully back until 2000 or so.
It took me years to build my strat collection because I grew up during this bad period of strat making....well the end of it...I'm not that old lol and I certainly could not afford a really old one so I just had to try a ton out and get the right one through luck.
There were some amazing Jap strats made in the 80's that were better than the American ones at the time and they just say "
fender strat" then "made in Japan. So they are not called squires or anything they are actual fenders made in japan.
My favorite strat is an old Jap one and it also has 21 frets
So just grab a neck on ebay that has 21 frets and is maple of course and build your guitar!!!!
Oh watch out for bolt patterns some of the jap necks are only 3 bolts!
Good Luck and sorry that I do not know the year of the neck but he grabbed it out of a seconds bin and who knows for sure what year it is, that part I got from the guitar world issue.
If you have not read that artical it is very informative and u can find it online.
