Make your own guitar cables

I saw how expensive good guitar cables are and I'm thinking of making my own.
Does anyone know hat would be the best place to purchase high-end, thick-gauge cable and jacks? I have a good soldering iron, a heat gun, shrink tubing and the drive to save money.

I know the amount of work involved in making good cables, and there's no way a 20 foot cable can cost anywhere near the 40 bucks you can end up shelling out for upscale gear. [img]images/smilies/shame.gif[/img]
