I get the feeling that too many people see Megadeth as this caricature of thrash metal and it makes me sad.
I think they are one of the best things that ever happened to metal. I'm sooo glad James Hetfield kicked Mustaine from Metallica when he did. This gave us the mighty Megadeth, all teeth, nails and snarl—the works!
I've always liked Mustane's work and agree that leaving Metallica was the best thing that ever happened to him. Like most metal acts, Megadeth was pidgeon-holed by radio and the media as "mediocre, head-banging bullshit". Such a shame, too.
Mustaine work is nothing short of amazing throughout the band's career. He's a great songwriter and has was able to give his band a very special indentity.
I'm sure that whether Dave comes back as a solo artist or reforms Megadeth, it will be worth listening...
I actually heard "Symphony of Destruction" on the radio tonight CC and made me think of you. I forget sometimes how much I do like Mustane's playing and songwriting.
I'm glad they're playing Megadeth.
I saw them at the HOB on the Sunset Strip just before Marty left to pursue his solo carreer. This band was so tight it was sacry!
