You seen the
floyd rose in the subject and you still looked? I salute you!.
Not sure if this is in the right place on the fourms. If not could you point me to it?
Where to start.....
Heres the deal. I am new to Guitars. Never played. I couldn't even play you twinkle twinkle little star. Thats how new I am. Now that we have that out the way.
I have been around bands all my life. My mother ran a Country band for as long as I can remember. So now that I am 23, I now decided I wanted to learn how to play the guitar..... Should of learned earlier when I had the chance. But no biggie. I managed to pick up a guitar off of ebay for a good price. Or atleast I think it is. Can be seen at
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...;category=2384
Now. I'm prolly going to get flamed for buying a guitar with a floyd rose for my first. But, Life goes on. I would like to learn the floyd rose setup. I think it has some advantages. But I know nothing of guitars. Put a computer in front of me and I will teal that sucker apart and have it back together in 20 mins. Put a guitar in front of me and I will run away screaming.
Heres my problem.
I had to change the strings when it arrived. I did. Couldn't get it in tune. and managed to break a string. Bought new strings. Went to put the first one on. and the whole system poped right out of the body. So. after reading and reading and more reading. I put it all back together. But its pretty much set like it would be from when it came out of the box. Now I'm lost. I am well aware that I will never get this in tune untill some settings are done. But thats just it. What and how do I set everything? I have read many webpages. But I just dont get it. I'm to scared of breaking another string and haven to go out and buy more. (Not a big deal) All of the Intonation stuff are set at the same. (All the way back. All of my strings are on. (haven't cut them to shorten them yet but they are in the tuners) I have a battery under the bridge holding it somewhat where it has to be. All the fine tuners are set all the way up. And the springs are pretty much almost all the way in. (screws are almost all the way into the body)
(for the record I am using .10 gauge strings)
Again. I'm stuck at this. Don't know where to goto next.
Do I TRY to tune it before anything else?
Are the springs in the back to tight?
Intonation settings?
Any info would be great.
You might be thinking. Why not take it in and get someone to do it? I want to do it myself. I would like to learn how to do this from the start. I'm stubborn like that. Infact that is the reason my wife doesn't like me at times
