i used 2mm jim dunlop for about 2 years until a few months ago i switched to 1.5mm . i like thicker picks cause when im picking the strings faster a thick pick doesnt have to recoil. know what i mean? you can hit the string in quick succession without any delay from the pick itself. it wont bend. every millisecond counts in guitarland . if i play acoustic though i use 0.38mm . those are just fantastic for strumming and acoustic nuances

Been using medium Fender premium celluloids for a while now. I just like the way they feel, I guess. I never really put much stock into the picks I use for the most part, although years ago I used Pro Grip picks exclusively. Not even sure if you can get those anymore - they were rosin-coated and came in a little drawstring bag.

Dunlop Tortex .73 mm's. The yellow ones, yeah. They just feel so right, for everything.

I've been using the thick one's for ages cause when i started playing, the tinner one's got all wobbly and not as presise as a 1.0mm + pick.. (I only play electric guitar..)
However, the other day i tried one of the old thin pick's i've had laying, and my playing felt more presise somehow, as well as my speedpicking became much faster... Weird! ..should be the other way around...?
Anyone else experienced this?

Those green Dunlop .88 totally rule. They don't wear out after five minuets like the .73's do. 1mm are good too! The strings really sing out when using a thicker pick. Oddly enough the thicker picks are the best for picking subtlety when that is called for.

I use the tiny Jazz Dunlop Tortex picks...the purple ones are the best because they are thick as all shit and I don't tear them up. I play very heavy gauge strings, so if I don't use a super heavy pick it tears to pieces. I used to use the Dunlop Jazz II's but I don't like the grip of those as much as the tortex. I think my all-time favorite picks I have ever played are the Dunlop Ultex picks! Hardly any stores carry them, so I can rarely get my hands on any. I use the yellow Tortex for acoustic, still thick enough to stand my heavy strings but light enough that my acoustic doesn't sound like a ragidy shithole!

Dunlop Jazz II 1mm for electric, and about a .50mm for acoustic strumming, and remember your bare fingers can come in pretty handy too

Dunlop Jazz 3's, Dunlop Nylon .73mm, and I have one of those Michaelangelo Batio Signature Picks that I like.

I got some at my local guitar store and I have no idea who makes them cause there's no name but they're white with a blue oval on the top that feels like sandpaper. Ain't dropped one yet! I like the 1mm

Jazz II's and III's 90% of the time(Love at first use). When I lose all of those usually a penny or dime till I can get some more. Then some thin ones for certains sounds on the acoustic but mostly I still use the jazz picks or my fingers.

Usually between 1mm & 1.5mm.
I am still really a learner so I am still unsure of exactly what picks I need to use.
I cant pick quickly and cos I have chunky fingers it makes changing between notes take longer as I have to be very accurate & its taking time to gain that accuracy at any kind of speed.

These
The .5mm's. Best picks ever for me. I've been using the red tortex dunlops forever and someone over at guitar lodge reccomended these and I LOVE them. I got the yellow tortex's also but find them a tad too thick to do effecient tremolo picking.
