Question

Replacing Stratocaster Pickups !!!

hey chaps. i recently ordered a set of "Fender Hot Noiseless Stratocaster Pickups" for my mexican made fender strat.

they arrived this morning and im looking forward to finally having some excellent pickups in my strat.

my first thought was "take it to a store and have someone who knows what they are doing put them in for me"

that is still my main thought.

But just incase it costs a bit too much (anyone know how much it might cost in UK ?) ... is thee any guides on the net or any diagrams to shed some light on exactly how one would go about doing this ?

any help would be appreciated. mainly for future reference.

Thanks all

I believe there are wiring schematics on Fender's website, DB. I'll look and see what I can find for you. I'm pretty sure I downloaded some instructions from there when I put my Texas Specials into my main Strat.

I also put Texas Specials in my strat, It came with wiring diagrams, but indeed there are some on Fender's site.

Another option if you are uncomfortable soldering is that you can clip the esiting wires than tie the new pups to the existing wires with small wire connectors. Some folks will have you beleive this doesn't work, however it does work fine and I do it quite frequesntly when trying out new pups and configurations. These are the same guitars I gig with and no problems at all.

well. im happy to report that the guy who put em in for me did it in under a day. i now have my baby back with the new pupps in it.

all the unwanted string noise is GONE. and along with that, there is a certain purity to be found in the tone now. also... all notes have more clarity. i can happily play chords on the overdriven channel and they actually sound nice.

these pickups are fantastic.

they could have a little bit more power. but sometimes its nice that you have to work that little bit harder. cause it makes the payoff feel great.

i'd give the "Fender Hot Noiseless Stratocaster Pickups" a healthy 9/10

awesome stuff.

i can now see my Strat as my first really stunning guitar. was always nice on the fingers. now its nice on the ears too

Hey DB - sorry, I forgot to post my links for you after I said I would.

Glad to see you got the pups taken care of and that you are happy with them.
