Thanks Eric and I am a pretty big George Lynch fan. I just shudder when I think of the video for "Breaking the Chains" - especially Mr. Dokken 'fist pumping' during the solo right after George breaks free from his chains.

Agreed, the video was one of the stupidest I've ever seen. Bet then again so were the majority of the videos in that era.
Can you say Scorpions? (The one with the chicks and the lion cage)

That would be Rock you Like a Hurricane. I seem to remember Klaus Meine and the boys emerging from some sort of slumber from unexplainable pods. Still, nothing's worse than Don Dokken fist-pumping with his mouth agape as Mr. Scary soloed.

There are many more embarrassing videos from that era.
Dokken is certainly up there.
I still love Gearge Lynch though. Great player.

Re: The first song you learned

I think it was something stupid like "Old McDonald had a Farm" (Thank you, Mel Bay!)

But the first song that really meant something was "Johnny B. Goode", Chuck Berry.

Peace!

Lynch is awesome! So is Doug Aldrich and Paul Gilbert and John Petrucci and...aw, now I'm ramblin'! First song by the way would have been Hello Hooray by Mr Vince Furnier.

...My teacher started with "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star". Half way through I brought in a Guitar World with Eddie in it and I was on my way through Aint Talkin Bout Love. So ATBL is it!

Re: The first song you learned

first song for me was Dog Eat Dog by AC/DC. I'd play those same three power chords over and over and over again. E5, A5, D5. So simple, yet a killer tune

They are the kings of the "three power chords" and it doesn't hurt to have Mutt Lange at the helm either

Re: The first song you learned

Jessie's Girl by Rick Springfield. Then the regulars: You Really Got Me (VH version ofcourse), Paranoid, Crazy Train, Pretty Woman (VH again). Actually asides from the Rick S. song those other tunes were part of our set list for my 1st few gigs in junior high (back then we called it middle school). I wish I had a video of that. Tube socks up to my knees. LOL
