The Let`s demonstrate our guitar pickups thread on Gtr101.

its always a great resource to hear how different pick ups sound.

Clips of under 20 secs please demonstrating both bridge and neck pickups , state which type they are and whether you recorded using an amp or a modeller.

Who knows............there may be a stickied thread providing a terrific gear information resource for players.

Here goes...............................

These files illustrate Peter Florance Voodoo 59 Paf Humbuckers of out puts 8.1k / 7.9 k for bridge and neck respectively. Guitar used was my 2001 Gibson Historic R9 Les Paul and I recorded these with a Line 6 2.0 modeller.

I look forward to finding out about YOUR pickups and saving your files for reference purposes.

Ok, great idea. These are 3 different positions on a Peavey Wolgang Goldtop (pre-patent so it's a few years old). The pickups are designed to EVH specs and are in a zebra stripe finish...beyond that I can tell you very little except they are VERY special!

I've tried to keep them as 'naked' of effects as possible so this is going thru a POD xt on a JCM Marshall 45w setting with a hint of reverb. You'll hear me backoff with the volume pot at times to try and give a different perspective.

First one is the bridge position. Lots of very easy to find sweet spots and great for pinch harms all over the place.

Second is middle position between both pups and this is where the magic is. For a guitar with two humbuckers there's some wierd phasing going on which suggests a single coil to my ears. Great for sorts Joe Perry kinda licks, I've used this on a lot of blues tunes.

Third is neck position. Kinda bassy like a Les Paul...better up on the 12th fret or it gets very muddy due to the output.

All-in-all, a keeper for me...she's a bit battered but I hope she'll be worth something someday as the Goldtop is pretty rare because people want the flames more.

fantastic !!

just the sort of stuff i was looking to save. so often you get manufacturers tarted up clippage, clips from regular guys recorded with regular gear and without endless tweaking by studio engineers is, in my opinion, of so much more use to players out there.

No worries...seemed an easy job to do three 20 second spots! It gives an idea of what the guitar thru the POD sounds like...job done!

not the sort of clips that were asked for dude.

I did some quick comparisons a while back for the Seymour Duncan forum using the same lick through a Marshall JMP1 with the same settings. Here they are. The Custom 5, Custom Custom, Screamin' Demon and C/PG hybrid were all done using my Jackson Fusion Pro, while the Little 59 was in my Squier and the 59 in my VH1 replica.

Killer stuff here guys!
Here's mine. I used a musicyo Kramer Baretta sustainer which I recently removed the sustainer gear and installed a EMG combo set 81/sa/sa. I also used my guitarport on the Engl Powerball model with the 2001 Line 6 2x12 cab and a 421 dynamic mic @ 6%. The clips are labeled clearly. For those that may not know the 81 is the bridge humbucker and the sa are single coils in the middle and neck.....well damn, it seems i dont know how to post an attachment. when i figure this out.......

IBLover

They sound pretty hot in terms of output, what are they rated at and what did you use, amp or modeller?
