The New Wolfgang ... if you had any input
Just curious ...
If you had any input on the new Wolfgang guitar, who would you choose as the manufacture and what type of options or features would you offer?

I'd just buy the new Peavey HP special.

Me, I like guitar. I like loud squeals and pinch harmonics that only dogs can hear, tapping that would redefine what Fred Astaire popularized, sweeping that would make a janitor jealous, and most importantly great melodic HOOKS (like the greatest hook writers of all time Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson). Singing is not a requirement.

I'm not talking about a guitar that has already been produced.
Remember YOU decide who should manufacture this guitar.
And YOU decide what the offerings are.
For example ...
Maybe one option would be a PRS Wolfgang.
One pickup, one knob, and a Floyd Rose trem to stay true to the EVH "vibe".
And of course a variety of those gorgeous flame and quilt tops and finishes PRS is famous for. I'll even go one further and say include eyelet hooks and a custom made PRS EVH leather strap with snap hooks!
Hell, if people have to pay $2000+ for an EVH guitar, I think it should at least be a quality instrument, don't you? No offense to Art Series owners, but everytime I see one, I just don't see $2000+.
It would also be cool to see this new Wolfgang offered in a more affordable "SE" model as well.
Just wishful thinking, I guess.
But that's what this thread is all about.

I think Charvel should have a go at doing some quilt tops, with the Wolfgang name.
I also think it should come with an H-S-H pick up configuration...Original Floyd Rose, Birdseye Maple Fret board. It should come with a flick off switch (maybe the 6th position of a 5 way switch) so people can do covers of "You really Got me".
But maybe a different shape...somewhere inbetween the Ernie Ball and the Peavey Wolfgang shape. But still bound. I like the idea of the eyelet hooks. And it should come with a free D Tuna at the very least!

To answer I'd like too see gibson take a stab at it .

I've seen a few Wolfies in the $2000 range on ebay ... http://cgi.ebay.com/Peavey-Wolfgang-...QQcmdZViewItem, but that's not what I was saying. I made that statement regarding the "Art Series" guitars made by Charvel.
Any offerings on that Gibson EVH you had in mind?
Body design? Electronics? Finishes?

I don't see a new Wolfgang being popular or even wanted like the previous EVH incarnations since you were buying those primarlily for the name with Ed. While Ed was still playing is one thing to have a guitar out, but now, I don't see Ed adding much value to a guitar manufacturer by having another Wolfgang. As mentioned by Flet, a great substitute is the new Peavey HP if you are into those guitars. I never cared for them personally.

I can see how Ed not touring at this time may have SOME effect on sales, but IMO the man is an icon and will forever be remembered for his musical contributions.
Sales on SRV and Hendrix models seem to be doing okay, and no disrespect but, well ... unfortunately I don't see any touring in their future.
I just believe, like SRV and Hendrix, EVH has made his statement.
Any future recordings or touring would be great, but I really don't think he has anything to prove at this point in his career.

I pretty much like my Wolf standard just the way it is. I suppose I would rather have quilt over flame, I don't need a tone knob (mine is disconnected) and it would be cool to have a kill switch. I would keep the birdseye neck and maybe offer some different tops. I think locking tuners might be cool.
Ed is a legend, but I'll bet they don't sell a lot of those Art guitars these days.

Well ... IMO, I think they're more of a collectors guitar.
Unless you're in a tribute band, chances are that's not going to be a guitar you grab on your way to a gig, ya know? And that's alot of dough for a guitar that you're not going to really use a whole helluva lot.
Also, if you've browsed through some of these othere threads around here, you'll see that there ar alot of people who have built their own for a whole lot less and have done a damn good job!
The EBMM EVH and Wolfgang guitars on the other hand are more of a "players" guitar in that nobody's going to gawk and point fingers at you for bringing one to a gig. JMO.
I found this pic of a PRS awhile back and saved it.
Kinda reminds me of what a PRS EVH guitar might look like if it ever became a reality. Who knows. It sure does have alot of EVH influence though.
And here's another ...
I'm not quite sure why they chose those "blah" finishes though.

i think those photos jus't above might make a nice new version, but i think the body shape should "lean forward" a little more like the latest wolfgang...
have to agree about the unattractive finishes on 'em, too...
