This is really gettin annoying.
Hey everyone I got a little problem.
I've got a digitech distortion factory and I think it may have something wrong with it but before I go get a repair done I'll ask you guys to see if it may be something simple.
Ok so the problem is that when I use it and do bends it makes a real funny sound. Only at certain frequencies though. It sounds almost like there is a lose connection, like you pullin the lead out then putting it back in really quickly. It only does it at certain points too. If I play 12th fret on the G string and bend it slowly it happens at only certain points in that bend. It's annoying the hell outta me and I cant use that pedal now because its too annoying.
If anyone knows or thinks they know what it could be, please let me know. I really liked that pedal before. Thanks in advance.
Cheers.
Kris.

well I am not sure where to start...so here goes
you mentioned that you like the pedal before...which I am assuming that you didn't have that problem before when you used it...if that is the case then what has been changed since you liked it? different guitar? new strings? new amp...
if it is a new issue then you have to run down what is different now as opposed to then...
try the pedal with different factors ..such as different guitar, different amp removing other pedals that are in series to try and locate where it is coming from...
hope that helps a little

Thanks for the reply.
I have tried different guitars, leads and amps. The only thing that is different is the strings but i doubt that would have anthing to do with it.
Can the circuitry go bad over time or anything? It wasn't makin this noise before and it is now. I havent gigged with it and have always treated it very carefully so I'm thinking it might be a circuit board gone bad somehow. Can that happen???

I would suggest taking it in to your local guitar store, I have never heard of that problem before.

You wanna tell me the pedal only gives hassles on a SPECIFIC place on the guitar, or on a SPECIFIC place the pedal is moved to??

One of my friends on another board had a problem with a Digitech Delay that he bought off of Ebay, it was D.O.A.. He took it to Guitar Center and they said it was the circiut board.

It's really hard to explain. Its only when i play certain notes or whateva. Like, it doesnt continuously happen, just when i play certain notes. But there are a lot of those notes that make it happen so it happens quite a lot.
I might just take it back to where I got it and get them to have a look at it.

You said it when you hit the G string on 12 and bend it, does it just make that noise when it's in G#?

First off, like you said, open it up and check for a lose connection...If you don't get one, I can guarantee you that the Digitech is stuffed. Although im not a Engineer on circuitry, i work alot with computer and printer boards. The symtom you discribe could be a faulty Circuit board ( maby the Digitech fell off something?? ). The guys would 10 to 1 say they must replace the circuit board, but if it was me, i'd call it a day and get a new Digitech...at least you'll get a decent warentee with it.
PS:...Just one more thing...You HAVE checked your guitar cable by plugging it straight into the Amp...just to make sure you havnt got a faulty guitar cable??..lol

Hmm I did some more testing and it appears its the amp not the pedal... The pedal just makes it a lot more obvious. I dont know how I heard it on the amp I tested, maybe I'm going crazy. Anyway, now I'm lookin at gettin a new amp.
Any recomendations????
