trying to find a bridge replacement that fits

i am trying to find a bridge to fit my old squier 1 bullet. It had a 2 post style tremolo on it before. I trashed it because it was shitty. now I can't find one that will fit it. On the guitar, The measurement from center to center on the two posts is 55mm. and the wilkinson that i had planned on getting for it measured 56.8mm from center to center on the 2 post. the only other 2 post bridge i found was 51mm between the post. also i noticed that the holes in my guitar are really small compared to the post that go in with the wilkinson. the holes are 5mm and the post are 10mm. I wonder if I would have to hollow out the holes some more to make the wilkinson fit?? any suggestions on a bridge that will fit??

The wilkey I have has the notch on one side.... and the other side is just a bladed edge so you've got a little bit of play in the saddle width.

theres some good articles here on installing aftermarket trems. you need to fill the old pivot screw holes and realign for the new bridge.... Check in the How to . installing a floyd rose... install is the same.

check how the holes would line up once the full sized posts are drilled out.

If the 10 mm holes would engulf both of the smaller 5 mm holes regardless of their new centers, then go ahead and set them up.

The best way to get the holes to drill with new centers without the bit jumping over to the already drilled holes is to clamp another piece of wood on top of the body with tiny pilot holes drilled for the new centers. Drill the 10mm holes through the top "guide wood" and they'll follow nice and straight through the body.

If the holes aren't going to line up and you're going to end up with weird oval holes, then get some hardwood dowl rod the size of the smaller holes. Cut them to a good length to fill the hole without sticking out higher than the surface. Put some wood glue on them and tap them into the holes. this will fill them.

Let the filled holes dry overnight. The next day you can drill new holes and those post holes won't be in your way. Once the bridge is installed, you won't even see the old holes.
