what strings and how low is your action!!!

i like to play fast so i lowered the action on my les paul.(its easy to play fast but the bends are a little bit hard) so what strings are best for low action on a les paul. i just put a set of gibson vintage reissue strings(9/42)

I used to use 11-50's on my old guitar with about a this much: --- of clearance at the 12th fret. Now I use 10-46's on my new guitar with the action a little lower. I usually set it to where its easy to play and the notes don't buzz with chords. I don't like super low action as it takes away some of your tone. Those strings you have on there are about as light as you can go without losing all tone.

i used 10-60's on all my guitars, and my action is low enough to hold a 1.5mm pick firmly in place.

First of all Tone on electric guitars isnt decided by string height or action. Its the distance between the pickups and the strings. Unless you have pickups that cant be adjusted, your living a misnomer. As far as my normal shop set up... .007 neck relief. and will hold a dime behind the first fret.. and a fender heavy pick at the 7th fret with no audible buzz. For the ones that like to beat the shit out of their guitars I set the action at about 3mm.
Level frets and proper neck angle is really important.

gauge 9-46 and can fit a 2mm jim dunlop pick between string and fret at 12th fret without displacing the string .

Lol nah...I was just having trouble with 9-42 on a gibson being hard to bend
I use 9-42 and 10-46, some times 11-48.
My action is not superlow, I prefer some air to move around with.

I usually will just feel it out. If it feels too hard to play up beyond the 12th fret, I'll lower the strings. Do this. Then adjust your pickups to compensate for the changed action. You might also have to adjust your truss-rod. But to adjust pickups relative to the strings, I'll use a 2.0mm pick on the High and Low E's to set the pickup's height. I'll raise the pickups to where they're almost touching the strings on the High E, then insert the pick so that the High E string holds it on the pickup. Then I'll lower the pickup until the pick falls out. Repeat this for the Low E as well and do it for both pickups. I did this yesterday and now my instrument's tone is much more controllable than before, and the clean sounds R better. This setup will work wonders for anyone.

I use 9-42's on all my guitars. I have tried 8-38, 10-46, and 11-52, but 9-42 is what I like. I might switch to 9-46 if I ever become a professional musician.. but right now.. 9-42's are fine

Basically I think you set your guitar up for a particular set of strings and stick to them. It isn't that one set is better for X guitar or whatnot...though pickup type can make a diff.
