which is more important, a good amp or good guitar?

Wow. The proverbial what came first. the chicken or the egg.
I would say if anything a PLAYABLE GUITAR. No matter what you do, if you cant play it, a million dollars in gear behind it wont make it any better.

hehe true a pro can make a piece of junk sound super....but ok lets say that this implies to those who can play or like famous musicians. but also another thing my teacher(haven't had any lessons for a while due to upcoming exams) and guys at shops tell me is that having gear that sounds nice will make you wanna sit down and practice because it sounds nice and you enjoy it.

I think you missed the point. Its not your playing. its if the guitar itself is PLAYABLE. if its outta tune,poorly setup, and the intonation is improper, even the best of the best can't make it sound better than it really is. It's this simple. no matter what color you paint it...... a turd is still a turd..

In order of importance...
1. Gibson les paul standard.
2. talent
3. a marshall stack..(2 stacks would sound better in stereo)
really , you would need both, a good amp and a good guitar. They should be equally important to achieve your disired tone.

Thanks Pepper you finally brought out what I was looking for since the begining. OPINIONS Thank you . I get tired of day in day out telling customers and clients its a matter of opinion.BTW the only thing in my arsenal thats stock is my collectors. The rest get tweaked till they are black and blue.
