Wrapping strings around the tail piece on a Les Paul

I see Zakk and Jimmy page doing it, and they both insist there is much better sustain, so I try it. I did do some reading to make sure I wouldn't do anything stupid to my guitar, and what the hell??? It really does make a difference. Not just a subtle difference, but alomst night and day.

If you are interested, make sure the stop tail piece is screwed into the body as far as it will go. Don't break anything, just put it down as low as it will go. Thread your strings through the front and to the back over the tail piece. That's all there is to it. You now have a more solid transition from the strings to the body. If done right, you will see a difference

Re: Wrapping strings around the tail piece on a Les Paul

I tried this cos of a Zakk interview. I put them on a Les Paul custom I had. I didn't find the tone changed (there's that fuckin' t word again!) but I did find that I didn't snap as many strings...
