Fairy Tale of NewYork
I entered this in the comp last year so it would be cheeky to do so again
This is my favourite Christmas song ever. It is almost anti Christmas but it still keeps the spirit going on.
This was originally done by Kirsty MacColl and the Pogues. It was a big hit over here in the UK. Unlike the normal happy christmas stuff this is a gritty song with both feet planted in real life. Set in Depression/ prohibition era New York it is a story of the man getting locked up on christmas eve for being drunk and his wife bailing/bawling him out. In the midst of a big arguement and name calling there is still a lovely exchange in the lyric at the end.
Him: I could have been someone.
Her: Well so could anyone, You took my dreams from me, When I first found you
Him: I kept them with me babe, I put them with my own. Can’t make it all alone, I’ve built my dreams around you
OT - I think my wife really enjoyed singing the following line ." You scumbag, you maggot You cheap lousy faggot Happy Christmas your arse I pray God it’s our last."

And i dont think theres any harm you posting this , god how often has Slade been in the charts ! , get it in man , get it in ! .

I love this song and I love this version of it...it suits your vocal style perfectly but your teeth are prolly straighter, whiter and don't look like the cemetry in Tombstone! Nice work from the wifely as well. You probably didn't need quite as much Vodka as the man himself either!!!!
:drunk:
Great stuff.
