J-Mart version of I\'m the One
Timing is off in parts, but it sounds pretty good.

Re: J-Mart version of I\'m the One
Nice work J-Mart. I'd be hyper critical of this one because I did the whole song in one take in the studio and by the time I'd got it right I was half dead! Sounds superb as ever...have you heard the version Doug Aldrich did for the VH tribute...this sounds very similar. Great work!

Re: J-Mart version of I\'m the One
I'm my own worst critic. The beginning and the first solo aren't that good, but the tone I loved. My lexicon MPX-500 has an adjustable db thing so I can crank the Marshall, but still have it at a reasonable volume. I get some power tube distortion that way. Not sure if it's good for the amp, so I didn't do it very long.

Wah,
Do you have the Doug Aldrich version? I'd love to listen to it. Maybe you can email it to me. Thanks bro!

Re: J-Mart version of I\'m the One
That is UN-FRIGGIN-BELIEVABLE J-mart. Yes the chops and tone are great, but I have never seen anybody able to emulate the "off the cuff feel" that Eddie pulls off at will....until I just downloaded that clip.
If you are not a working professional musician.....you should be.
BTW-Which VH song do you think would be the hardest to play? That one has to be right up there.

Re: J-Mart version of I\'m the One
Man,
I am very impressed. I am new to the board and did not expect to hear such a great rendition. I have the old Curt Mitchell VH video where he recreate a few sections of this song, you play the entire song extremely well and nail the bar dives as well. Great tone too. Hey, If VH ever get going again, Eddie will need to give you a call so you can reteach him how to play these old killer tunes. This happens to be one of my favorites.
Regards!
Bob

Re: J-Mart version of I\'m the One
Thanks OU812, I have more problems with the newer stuff, because I don't like playing it that much. I like Dave era stuff when I jam. I like the newer stuff, but it's not as fun to play for me. I'm very attracted to VH1. The demo for warner brothers blows me away! He's all over the place, and never misses a note. Crazier than the first album by far IMO. I'm the One is harder to play and it has taken a long time to get to the point where I could play it live in front of people. The opening riff has taken the longest for me of anything, and I still can't do it perfectly. People may think I'm a Eddie copycat, and I am no doubt, but I'm a PE teacher and don't let it bother me anymore cause I don't think my original stuff sounds that much like him.
