Led Zepplin Tribute

I decided to spend some of my free time this weekend doing a cover of an all time classic Led Zepplin tune - you may have heard of it before - it's called Stairway to Heaven!

I used a backing track for this that included everything but the guitars - which I was more than happy to provide! Whoever did the vocals on this backing track is amazing - I dont think its Robert Plant, but DAMN - he REALLY sounds like him!

I did the leads for this cover "in the spirit" of Page, but did not attempt to mimic his playing note for note. There may be some bits that are very close, but I played it from memory and did not study the original before recording this cover.

I figure there probably have been a million people that have posted a cover of this in the past, but what the heck - it is such an awesome timeless song! I really hope that you enjoy my version of it!

Well enough rambling - I'll let you get on with the tune!

Enjoy!

Rj

Stairway To Heaven - Rj Style

PS: sorry about the annoying click track in the background, but I could not remove it from the original backing track.

I think I may of heard of this band that originally did this song............ Weren't they one of those English pop bands in the 60's? You know Herman's Hermits, Jerry and the Pacemakers, Led Zeppelin, etal? Seriously, nice work RJ, haven't heard anything from you in awhile, or maybe I've just been missing yours.

Can never have enough of this song imo. It's a great job RJ!! That vocalist has got to be the closest thing I have heard to Robert himself!!! Your guitar sounded very nice on the 12 string parts and leads! Great post RJ!

Thanks scott! The guitar tones on this one were a hybrid of a PODxt for the clean and distortion rhythms, and then I used the CyberTwin DI into the mixing board for the leads. I returned the PODxt to Sam Ash tho since the CyberTwin does just about everything the PODxt does (and sounds better IMHO).

Glad you enjoyed the tune bro!

Hey Rhythameen! Yeah - I've been layin low for a while. Recently I have been either too busy to do any reocrding or was completely un-inspired musically. Happens I guess....

Thx for the comments!

Thanks for the Stars on this one Stingx! Coming from you, that means a lot! Yeah - the singer (whoever it is) really kicks some major butt on the whole Plant sound! Glad to hear ya liked the mix - I was a bit unsure of how it would "translate" on to other peoples speakers. (You know how that is....)

Thx!

Very Very Nicely done. The vocals had just enough of you to lend individualityto the version. However for the most part it is as intendid to sound, and thats just like Mr. Plante and the Boys would sound.
Nicely done....takes some cast-iron wall-nutts to be recording this one, let alone letting folks hear it....you passed the test!
