Re: Maiden Voyage
Your jazz voice is coming on nice Stig...I'm jealous as I ain't studios enough to try jazz..it intimidates me but I love the tone.

Re: Maiden Voyage
thankyou very much wah
coming from a player like you that's great ...
believe me jazz is intimidating as hell to guitar players lol
i was kinda thrown right into the deep end with a bunch of proper jazz muscians and i crashed and burned many many times ! it took me alot of listening and horrible horrible recording attempts to get sort of into it .. even now i feel like i have a long way to go but it's a world of fun and it's good to have a nice change every now and then

Re: Maiden Voyage
I'm ok with blues ala Stevie Ray except when he goes off into jazz territories like ' Riviera Paradise' or bits of 'Lenny'...I'm too fucking lazy to be honest. My style is 80's rock so I suppose thats what I stick to.

Re: Maiden Voyage
tell you what I notice Stig...on guitarbattle.com, if you're over 35 you sound like classic rock. If your 16-25, you all wanna play Yngwie, Gilbert, Becker etc and I am amazed at the playing of some of the young guys there but a lot of it is 'cold'...ya know what I mean?

Re: Maiden Voyage
yeah i know what you mean .. i think alot of that has to do with alot of younger people these days learn by copying those people note for note their whole learning careers so their playing becomes static because basically you learn it that way stopping and starting getting everything perfect .
i mean don't get me wrong copying people is good but you need a certain ammount of experience to make it sound like it has some feeling .. and thats where the age thing comes in i believe .. you need to play 100 gigs and pay your dues before you guitar playing gets some feeling to it!

Re: Maiden Voyage
haha...don't worry, I don't think anybody will take it to heart. I reckon that the best equipment a guitarist has is his ears...fingers second (unless you meet Jenna Jameson for the night then the ears thing comes very low down the list!)

Re: Maiden Voyage
Nice work, Stiglar!
That jazz phrasing is right there...
Funny, I dont think I'm wired for jazz. All I want to do is burn and melt faces. I'll never grow up! But I'm sure growing old.
For the fun of it, would you mind posting the backing track so I can give it a go?
