More Brit Rock - Living after Midnight!!
Hey Guys - just anopther quick rendition of a storming classic Rock Track - Living after Midnight by Judas Priest.
Right, here's the debate - I have a Boss GT8, a Marshall JCM900, a marshall Rack jobby and quite a few amp sims on my PC for Nuendo or Sonar.........
What do you think I used for this track?? Haha!!
Do you think you can really tell what is used on some of these recordings?
Cheers,
Jimbo!!

Sounds great mate. I'd say you were using a Marshall JMP 1 for this...am I right? Do I win a cake???
Don't worry about the lack of comments at the moment. A lot of people on the site are from the US and they're in bed at the moment.

I've been thinking of doing 'End Of The World' offa 'Corridors of Power' because I found a decent backer for it...also gotta finish 'Back On The Streets' before the decade is out!!!
How's about 'Light's Out' or 'Rock Bottom'?

Getting Nearer
You're getting nearer with what you think I used!
But seriously, I spent ages trying to work out which MFX to buy and I went for the GT8. I then realised that with the power of the modern PC, you can get whatever sound you want from any of them (within reason).
I also realised that everyone has their own ideal sound so my conclusion is that they are all good (unless they are really sh*t !!!!!). Each to their own.
I like live sounding distorted guitars with ringing power chords and singing lead and some sounds I hear from some bands I hate I think are good and vice-versa.
Anyway - keep guessing - oh yeah ... I recorded the guitar tracks w/o any extra processing (after the recording that is)
Cya,
Jim
PS: I think I'm going to cover Priest's Breaking the law and MSG Captain Nemo .... Standby!

Always love to hear some Priest! Great job on this one. Guitars sound killer. Little bit too loud maybe, but it works.

Actually I used Amplitube for all 3 guitar tracks with different Presets
Amplitube is quite a good tool for recording your tracks dry and then changing the sound easily - I think I fooled some of you !!!
Here's a quick clip of Journey's Stone in Love using Amplitube - I'll complete it with GT8 and post later - Does anyone want me to do this one. Since finding this site I have now the motivation to complete all the covers that I always wanted to do!!
Cheers Lads,
Jim

Hey Chris - I'm going to do 'Cold Hearted' off 'Corridors of Power'
I've always thought this was an awesome song. The guitar sound was done in his Superstrat era. I love songs in F# and this works, especially when the solo kicks in.
Cheers Mate,
Jim
PS: I saw Unchained at the Red Lion the other week and they were pretty good.

I thought that Unchained already had a new guy on guitar - a young lad who can play the EVH stuff really well.
BTW - I will do Cold Hearted but it will take some time - I'll try and do this one properly with good mixing and mastering which I can't normally be arsed with (because I want to move onto the next song!)
Cheers,
Jim

Cheers Guys, I've now got a thousand (well - you know what I mean) songs to do, including Priest, MSG, Gary Moore, UFO, Lizzy, etc.
I hope you like what I'm doing.
Cheers,
Jim
