I think the few responsed has a little to do with the recording quality. We've been so spoiled with great recordings with pods and v-amps and stuff like that, so something thats just all recorded through a mic like this can be a bit hard to listen too.

With a bit of compression and reverb the vocals would probably sound ok, and the guitar work sounds good. Very good for only playing about a year!

Either way it sounds like you two had fun doing this, so keep it up!

Edit: if i get a "line in" cable and record it over would it sound a lot better then playing through the mic?

Yes, it would sound much much better. Good luck!

I remember the days playing Iron Maiden tunes into a condensor mic on a tape player! Yep I think we've been spoilt with some of the pro sounding recordings but what I think you're recording shows is that you're pretty nifty on the frets for someone who's only been playing for a year!
I'd definately recommend getting some sequencer software for recording and an amp emulator(software or otherwise) so you can plug your guitar direct into your sound card and then throw that mic in the trash! ha ha!

Damn fine playing

Actually, having listened to that like 7 times, it's really cool. It has a very 'vintage bootleg' feel to it, which gives it some uniqueness. And nice playing!
