Reposted-Some insight on my sons playing

I wanted to post some clips of my son. He's been playing for 2 1/2 years. I'm not really into the stuff he plays. But when we have friends over they keep stating that he's pretty good and the stuff he's playing is fairly difficult. Just wanted to get some info from some people in the know. What are other kids his age playing?

He has pretty good technique and he seems to have control over what he is playing. I agree that the kind of songs he is playing is somewhat advanced stuff but that shouldn't stop him from learning them. However, when it comes to the harmonics and melodies he needs quite a bit of work there. It's hard to tell from the quality of the videos but his timing isn't quite right and that makes his playing becomes a little loose/sloppy sometimes when doing solo's or when he's changing from riff to riff. He just needs a little practice...For someone that's only been playing guitar for 2 1/2 years, he's fairly good. I can tell he actually puts in time to practice on a regular basis because other people i've heard who have been playing longer are not as competent because they lack discipline
