Thanks Canyon, since you've never heard this tune, you should check out some John Prine, I just love his writing, and singing too.
And thanks Sling for the comments, coming from you it really means a lot. I really admire your work, and can only hope to come up to your level one day.

This is one of my all time favorite collabs on G101. You 2 are just amazing together. Rythameen, once again you are giving me a huge new appreciation for music areas that I have little to no experience with. Thanks for that... I could always use a little more cultural diversity. LOL.

Thanks Wig......high praise indeed, especiall coming from you.......I've alway had a somewhat eclectic taste in music. My CD collection runs from Queen, Pink Floyd, Aerosmith to Judas Priest, all whom I love, then there is the blues section from Charlie Patton, Robert Johnson, to SRV and Joe Bonamassa, then there is kind of my "Americana" section running from John Fahey, Peter Lang and Leo Kottke, to Gram Parsons, Burritto Brothers, etc. and a jazzer section too with Frank Gambale, Steve Kahn, Scott Henderson, Allen Holdsworth. and I've even got some new age stuff too. I go through phases where I think I should play Rock, then I move back to Blues, (which is still my home base), then I think I should practice some fusion stuff to keep up with my son............ then it's off to roots stuff, it's no wonder it takes me so long to get something done. But hey, variety is the spice of life.

You guys deserve it!!! The real testament to you two, is that I am rarely in ear shot of music in this style/genre. The kind of stuff that I am normally listening to is in the vein of Queens of the Stone Age, Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice and Chains, Clutch, Eagles of Death Metal, Rage ATM, System of a Down, NIN, Filter, Rob Zombie and a ton more of that pursuasion. And if it's not that, then it's all of the classic, classic rock bands of the 60's and 70's or the alternative bands of the 80's and 90's, U2, The cure, REM, Depeche Mode, The Smiths (believe it or not I missed the 80's metal thing, in substitution for the afore mentioned stuff)... and I shouldn't forget all the old school punk bands. I guess you could say eclectic too, cause even after listing so many favorites, I still don't think I've captured all of it. It's a ton of stuff and I could spend a year trying to listen to every CD I own.
Human nature is to reject change, I think. If nothing else to take it in with a little more scrutiny. So to be wow'd by this in such a huge way and catch myself thinking... "I loved how they did this"... "I loved how they did that"... "what AWESOME chemistry between them" while truly enjoying the writing of the original artist... something so different for me... says a lot for your performances and the original composer.
I don't post a lot of stuff up here on G101, only because most of what I am working on is with my band and we don't have anything copyrighted. We work hard and I'm probably crazy, but trying to be very protective of our work. But believe it or not in at least one or two of the more recent tunes we're working on there is this sorta "twang" going on in a subtle way. I gotta give the man Rythameen a bit of credit towards that. I may not have been completely converted, but theres some quasi meshing of genres going on that if nothing else is aiding in the originality department.
At any rate, I swear there was a post a while back that I joked about how I was just hoping to get you two together for a collab or maybe meant to write it and didn't, but I know I definitely had the thought. So this was a wish come true. Great great job again guys.

Hey Wig, check out this guy Brent Mason, "country shreddin" at its best. I can do nothing like what this guy does. Check out Hot Wired, and Blowin Smoke. Another guy to check out is Johnny Hiland, he impressed Steve Vai so much, that he put him on his Favored Nations label.

These 2 guys are SMOKIN!!! I especially enjoyed finding out Johnny Hilands story. Blind, prodigy stature by age 8 and realized his dream. Reading about what he deemed as his defining moment while at college is pretty amazing, especially where it got him... very cool stuff. Thanks so much for the recommendations!!!
