Saxon 747
I used to like Saxon , back in 1982 or 3 i remember a gig they did at the Rock Garden on Teesside , the club could hold maybe 2 or 3 hundred , i swear there must of been a 1000 in !, and as for volume fuck it was like standing next to a jumbo on tick over . Saxon where awesome , but sadly lost the plot somewhere down the line .

Good work mate...this was a cracker of a song to hear on Radio 1 at the time! I was a welder at ICI at the time and we'd be down the Rock Garden every Friday and down the Thornaby Cons to see the likes of Saxon, White Spirit (with Jan Gers), Limelight and whoever else.
I was at that gig mate! Saw Def Leppard, Saxon, Tygers Of Pan Tang (with John Sykes) and Iron Maiden with ONLY Dave Murray on guitar (no second guitarist!). I remember he played a guitar solo...believe it or not it was 'Eruption'!
Great times...great cover.

heh good ol Saxon
n1 sounded live
Saxon has that ear piercing sound ive never heard from any other band, some of saxon the gigs ive seen they have almost ruined the gig by insisting to turn up the volume, yea great we all like a bit of extra ooomph but Saxon go that one more and turn up the volume to ear splitting levels, that coupled with their very trebbly sound is almost unbearable to be enjoyable, shame cos otherwise they were a class band, got all their old stuff on vinyl and they were one of the main metal bands without a doubt.

I think the Saxon concert at the Rock Garden that the guys were reminiscing about was actually even longer ago! Saxon played two devastatingly loud shows there on the Wheels Of Steel tour in 1980 (two shows the same night - one for under eighteens!) but I don't think they ever played there again. On the Strong Arm Of The Law tour they were in the Middlesbrough Town Hall and after that I think they missed Teesside out, the nearest shows being in Newcastle. I might be wrong though.
