Hi Guys newbie here just found your great Guitar site!
I am a big! big! Thin Lizzy fan and as you can see from my age I am no spring chicken and have been a Lizzy fan for around 30 years!
As for the guitar that is a different matter I came to learning it late I decided when I turned the BIG 40 that I was gonna learn guitar so I started!
I have been trying to learn for a while now and I can play some tracks for example Jailbreak - Thin Lizzy, Just what I needed - The Cars as well as all the opening riffs that all the music shops sales guys hate to hear Smoke on the Water, Stairway to Heaven
I am currently trying to learn
Black Magic Woman - Santana!
So as for my gear I started with a real crappy Hofner acoustic which I soon got rid of in favour of a Ibanez GRX 30 (I think!) then I was offered a Gibbo LP Standard and if you know anything at all about Thin Lizzy you will know that the Twin LP attack was their hall mark so I could not turn down the chance so I bought it!
I know! I know! such a great guitar for a beginner but hey you only live once!
I have a nice Tokai PRS copy which is a great guitar and a dream!
I use a Marshall Valve-state AVT150 amp so I get that really great dirty over driven sound very close to the true Lizzy sound!
I was luck enough to have seen the band live when Phil Lynott was still alive and I have seen some great guitarists my favorites are Scott Gorham and Brian Robertson, Bands that I also rated were/are the Scorpions,
Molly Hatchet, Motorhead, Rainbow, ACDC, SLADE and loads of other bands from around that era!
So that in a nutshell is me I might be know to some of you if you have ever dropped onto either the Rock Legend or
www.thinlizzyfan.com sites (the latter one is down at the moment but Squirrel is trying to get it back!)
So anything that you want to know about Thin Lizzy just ask but in return can I ask if anyone has any Thin Lizzy, Skid Row (from Ireland) Gary Moore, 21 Gun Salute, Wild Horses, Dare, John Sykes, Eric Bell Band, Phil Lynott or Gran Slam, Orphanage DVD's MP3's Bootlegs or anything at all I would love to hear from you!
