Thanks peepoles. I am not against Line6 stuff, but right now I am digging my old school stuff. so it may get a little more involved than wahwah's, but I would still like to stay basic.

Welcome. I have the same stuff, but I find it is much easier to just use a POD or Vamp and plug that into the PC.
It's cheap, easy, and the recordings come out fairly well. In your above senario (LP->Marshall->Cab->SM-57's-> (I put a Yamaha MD-8 as the recorder/mixer). Anyhow, enough of that...enjoy it here...I am fairly new and it is a killer place!
