Introduction

Hello everyone. Cool site, a lot to check out. I'm a (full time) student at a local university (almost finished!). I work at the university library (student assistant) and a local day care part-time. So if you don't see me too often... that should explain it. I also have a 12 year-old son. He's learning classical guitar (not bad at it either), and clarinet. I don't play guitar, I've tried, just don't have the knack I guess. I used to play piano though - drove my instructors crazy. I played the notes, but reinvented the tempo to my liking. One teacher said I had talent, but he didn't know how to get it out of me. I've pretty much always marched to my own beat - more or less.
For those of you from the VH Forums, I'm known there as Plane jain. I didn't think to use the same screen name.

Music is a great outlet, and band is the best of both worlds. If kids stick with it, they get the comradery-a niche so to speak, physical exercise and a great stress outlet. I hope they stick with it. Thanks for the welcome.

Welcome to the site. Great to hear that you're getting your son into playing an instrument. I think it's great. Rather than sitting them in front of a PlayStation 2 !

I didn't know you had a son, ericgtr. You learn something new every day !

I also can't play guitar, as you will soon learn - heh heh heh ! Doesn't stop me posting my shite though !
