hello all,
like you, i'm a huge vh fan (dave era mainly). i have to admit, that i am pretty poor at computer navigation and somewhat intimidated- so please bear with me! i'm really excited to have found this site. it will be nice to share experience's and feeling's about the greatest, most influencial, most innovated band ever, with people who really understand! my main draw to the band is evh. i live in wisconsin and grew up near the one-time reknown (spelling)
alpine valley in east troy, wi. they opened the "monster's" tour there. and, i saw srv's last show there ( i thought he blew clapton away). i've seen every wisconsin show since dave (about 12)- but never had the chance to see dave...mom wouldn't take me!! best seats- 5150, 2nd row, right in front of ed's mike (phenominal). this tour, i did the gold star tickets in green bay, awesome sound check and pretty good show. most recently, the nov 3rd show in milwaukee my wife and i got hooked up with ed's
guitar tech lonnie totman (he's the 2nd tech of this tour, he did the 3rd and current leg). hung out back-stage for most of the afternoon. watched lonnie set up ed's guitars, got to hold a new charvel (red with some striping), a peavy- mainly his dressing room warm-up (see thru and bullet proof!),"the" drill, and then he came. i got to meet ed in his guitar "pit"!!! we made some small talk- i was pretty nervous, and mainly wanted to stay out of the way. he (before i could pose with him) grabbed his green peavy and went on stage. i went down to the stage pit on his side. we made more small talk- i then said "i got one for ya." he said "what's that?" i said "hear about it later," he said "F*^K, i haven't played that for years." he proceeded to slighty stumble, but then jammed the intro for just me and my wife (she still doesn't understand what that meant). the gold star ticket holder's then filed in and they did the soundcheck (tight and right on). hung out in the pit for the opening act, and then to the house soundboard for the show. what a day!! anyhow, sorry for being lengthy, i promise it will be shorter next time. thanks for reading and if you guys are interested i can attach some of those milwaukee pics for you- 1st Due Truck
