Return of the King
What an awesome flick! The best of the three movies imo. Go see this movie if you liked the first 2. You won't be disapointed.

Re: Return of the King
Fucking awesome, is more like it! Easily the best of the three, however the first one is still my personal-favorite!

Re: Return of the King
I won't read any more reviews or opinions... I can't wait.
We're going to see it in San Francisco over the week end.
Woohoo!

Re: Return of the King
After watching the first one I was sort of turned off by it, way too much dialogue that I wasn't interested in. There is no way I can deal with another two and half hours of them walking and talking just to get to the action. Granted, I hear the action scenes are fanstatsic but let's hope this one has a little more to it. Don't get me wrong I am all for great dialogue on a topic that interests me.

Re: Return of the King
Return of the King Sets Wednesday Opening Record Source: Coming Soon! Thursday, December 18, 2003
New Line Cinema's The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King set a new record for a Wednesday opener, pulling in a big $34.1 million from 3,703 theaters. That beats Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace which made $28.5 million from 2,970 theaters on May 19, 1999. The previous two "Lord of the Rings" films also debuted on a Wednesday, with "The Two Towers" earning $26.2 million its first day and "The Fellowship of the Ring" $18.2 million.
"The Return of the King" now marks the 3rd biggest opening day ever, trailing only Sony's Spider-Man ($39.4 million) and Warner Bros.' The Matrix Reloaded ($37.5 million). The third installment of the trilogy also has earned the title of 6th biggest day in box office history and the best opening for a film in December.
The film also took in $23.5 million in 19 other countries where it debuted Wednesday, including the UK, Germany and France. The movie was opening in about 10 more countries Thursday and Friday and gradually expands to other territories over the next couple of months.

Re: Return of the King
Without ruining the movie for others with details, I heard that a rather significant battle that's in the book was, shall we say "left out", of the movie. Did any of you who saw the movie feel that it made a differnce?

Peter Jackson said he never liked the part about the shire so he neve even filmed the sequence. I could have done without the hug fest at the end too.

Re: Return of the King
I thought it was a great film. My little brother said that pretty much everything that was in the book was in the film. They only missed a few things out.
He either didn't realise that there was a whole battle scene missing, or it didn't bother him !
The first one is my personal favourite as well, but they are all equally as enjoyable, er, apart from the first one, because it's, er, more enjoyable...

Re: Return of the King
Potential Spoiler (highlight text to view) :
The bit where the spider comes to get Frodo. You know, when you just know the spider is above his head. But he's looking around.
Well, I knew the spider was up above him, and I knew that the spider would come down and grab him, and was telling myself, "Don't jump, you know what's gonna happen. Don't jump, you know what's gonna happen...."
Then the spider drops down, and I jump right out of my skin !
I was so ashamed of myself, because it was obvious what was going to happen, and I was the only person in the whole cinema that jumped.
Anyone else want to admit to jumping at this part ?
